Hi, I’m Janneke.
I’m an artist and creative based in Northern Germany, close to the Danish border. As part of the Danish minority in Northern Germany, I grew up between Danish and German language and culture.
I work across printmaking, mixed media, drawing and photography, exploring different materials, textures and forms of expression.
My work often begins within – with a feeling, a thought or a moment in the present. I’m inspired by our inner worlds, by emotions and by the sense of connection I find in nature.
Words are often part of this process. Poetry, single phrases and fragments of text find their way into my work, sometimes becoming part of the image itself. I’m interested in the space where words and images meet – and in what can be expressed when neither has to explain everything.
I rarely know exactly where a piece will lead me. I like to follow the process, allowing colours, textures, words and intuition to shape the work as it unfolds.
For me, creating is a way of capturing something that is there right now – a feeling, a moment, a trace of something that might otherwise disappear.
